Children entering the school in Reception year follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum with a wide range of indoor and outdoor child-led play activities available to them to aid their learning. The class is integrated within the Key Stage 1 class (including years 1 & 2) who follow the same themes or topics as the Reception year. Years 1 & 2 have additional ability-appropriate work within these topics guided by the national curriculum. This has the advantage that as children progress, they can be given the opportunity to access higher level challenges to stretch them. The class size is small and is staffed by a teacher and teaching assistant allowing for frequent opportunity for individual attention.
